A super interview of a super thinker on the power of habit loops and...

(Click on the title of the post to read the entire post.)

An interesting interview.  (See the link after my comments.)

Two things might be suggested to do from this (for each thing one reads should best have a benefit, or a result, otherwise it is just entertainment and the passing of time).

1) Tickle up, and set aside time for, thinking and improvement time, asking the questions he suggests (or using on the site The Life Improvement Journal process).  So that you do not arrive at your time for thinking with nothing that comes to mind, you simply note down what it is that occurs to you that you are doing that is otherwise than what is objectively best for you, including any "stressful" thoughts and systems that just aren't working and which are getting in the way.  When you get to the time for the session, you review your writings, prioritize which to address and then begin the process, ending up with a plan on what to do further.

Where would you put such writings?  In a "thinking journal".  Mine, because of ease of access, is to make at least a quick note right at the time that is understandable enough for me to understand it later.  I use a "AJournal" Evernote notebook name and later can just go to that notebook, which will automatically be in date order, and go from there. (Evernote is free up to a rather large limit.)

If I am not doing what would realistically be best for me to do, I write out my thinking, especially what the thoughts are that are generating the anxiety or conflicting concern that gets in the way.  If you but knock off  (replace) 5 to 10 of these (i.e. "solve" them via the belief changing process), your life will change dramatically.

2) Pick the biggest new habit (or adoption of a system) that would impact your life the most.

Ravikant's (below) was the morning workout.  Since I've got my workout system worked out and in effect, it was no longer an issue, but an easy automatic thing to do (even if my primitive mind starts to balk) - I prevail 98% of the time.

My biggest thing right now is to assure that I, instead of exploring and wandering around in lots of ideas, work on my #1 project and any Musts first thing in the morning, without any interruptions allowed, so that I am complete on them for the day before 12 pm.  (This dramatically increases my Life Productivity!  It is next to Godliness and taking care of one's health - as it creates the next biggest impact that is far beyond the lower level choices.  I'll write out the details of the process later and make it available for those interested. Or contact me right now if you are interested in getting it sooner.)

[If I explore and wander around in lots of ideas, I generate lots of interest (generating dopamine) and often go into flow, but I end up (happily) going nowhere, simply being a dope about dopamine. If I do the alternative, above I can generate much, much, much, much more for my life and my values and interests.}

So... you would immediately schedule time to do the above (for this very day and/or for sure this week, as a start) before you leave this post!!!!
