It’s inspiring to see such breakthroughs in life...

One of the great, great things I loved in doing the various learning and growth workshops I’ve done is seeing the breakthroughs that people have had, each in a rather limited elapsed time, but oh so powerful and inspiring.

Here’s an example (ignore the ad material):

Powerful Breakthrough

I took the Date With Destiny workshop years and year and years ago, when Tony was about 29, living in a 10,000 square foot house, with two castle turrets, facing the ocean on one side and a valley on the other.  We had the workshop in his living room with about 70 of us (plus a small stage and the support crew in the back).

The courses have gotten to be a lot more expensive over time, and thus not accessible to many (and also the cost reward tradeoff could be different).  It’s hard to evaluate the value to people versus the cost and there is no guarantee of a breakthrough (or that you will even follow through to fully implement what you learn and “realize”).  But, for some people, it proves to be priceless.

I’ve listed on the site various “personal growth” workshops that appear to be very good (I’ve taken many...most listed on my About Keith page):

Personal Growth Resources.
Resources For Success.

Note that I have full video listings series that put together free YouTube videos that you can watch to experience many of the growth gurus.  An example of the type of page setups is at Program For Learning Life From Tony Robbins.

Contemplative reflection - a few blogs that forward your thinking in life...and appreciation of life.

Blogs can be a reminder of some good things about life and, sometimes, can provide us with something that will improve our lives and our happiness.  If we pick specific ones of value, we far outstrip what comes from Facebook or such.  Of course, some days we just glance at a blog and the subject is not relevant or interesting, but the idea is that we are given the exposure to many possibilities that could add something to our lives or thoughts for the day - if it is a high quality blog.

Among those worth possibly considering:

Maria Shriver's Sunday Paper.  She reflects deeply on life, politics, the world, in an open, revealing, honest, authentic way.  I like her insights/comments in this linked post.  I copied a few paragraphs and inserted them at the end of this post.

Farnam Street blog ("Mastering the best of what other people have already figured out") - In-depth, thinking, books, philosophy, effectiveness...causes one to think more...

Excerpt from Shriver's blog:

"What did I learn? Well, during this period of reflection, I realized that I was carrying some beliefs that no longer served me and, for sure, weren’t bringing me joy. I also looked hard at some opinions that I came to discover weren't my own. Then, in [Marie] Kondo style, I trashed them. Yup, I put those beliefs and/or opinions in a folder and got them out of my mental space.

I cleared out the self-defeating language, negative beliefs and harsh judgments that had been my companions for too long. They pushed me for a long time, but they no longer served me. Lo and behold, when I cleared them all away, I found my joy. I also strengthened my relationship with my faith and with my God. I threw out old beliefs that made me think of God as a punishing, mean, and shaming power. I replaced them with the image and belief of a non-judgmental, forgiving, caring, and loving God—one who accepts me and others as we are and who guides us to a better place.

I also challenged myself to go through my days with a different perspective about work and its larger-than-life role in my life. These intentions may not have brought about any dramatic changes that are visible to someone else’s eye, but they did bring about small ones that I can feel, and that’s big to me. I learned that I could step away from social media for awhile and, lo and behold, it would keep going on without me. That's important to remember the next time you think you have to stop whatever you're doing and comment online. You don't.
As I watched the news in our world unfold (OMG), there were so many moments that reminded me how blessed I am...."

COMPLETE IMMERSION - MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO LEARN HAPPINESS

Ironically enough, I believe, from all my studies, that the key to happiness is

                         REMOVING THE OBSTACLES.

The key obstacle to happiness is a set of old, harmful beliefs, perpetuated and uncorrected, that determine your interpretation and outlook on life, oneself, and the world plus being the basis for one's actions.  That is no small thing to tackle - and very difficult to do on your own, though it is doable.

The typical approach to trying to solve unhappiness or "not enough" happiness is to do it sporadically and not in enough depth or with enough expertise.   That is "not smart!"

The most effective learning/correcting process that I have seen is from

1.  Complete immersion (and completion)
2.  With expert specialists

So, I would recommend what I believe, per people I know who have taken it:  The Hoffman Institute, which is an 8 day intensive with 2 days of putting it all together (at the end).

I would strongly, strongly, strongly recommend not putting this off, as having a happiness base is the most important thing in your life.  Delaying it makes no sense - and delay is the very core of the reason you are not where you want to be and/or could be in life. (A friend of mine seems to have tried everything, but ends up with lack of complete understanding and complete implementation, so she struggles forward.  But the struggle is needless, if she would partner with these people to move her forward rapidly.)

Do it!  (And let me know about your experience!)

Keith

I would recommend that you become an expert in learning, as it will dramatically change your life's quality and content.  Scan the front page of The Life University.

Note also that, per the scientific studies, only 10% of happiness is determined by circumstances, with 30% (per the latest updates) being due to a set point due to heredity.  With the other 60%, you can dramatically raise your happiness by 1.  Learning what actually creates happiness. and 2. Removing the obstacles to happiness. See Happiness.

Best Sites For Improving Emotional Health

Although I am putting together what I believe will be the best in certain key areas of life, I do, as part of that, guide you to other resources.  On the site, I have a Resources section, which lists Psychological Resources to peruse and use.

The first website I list is one that I think would be useful for you to explore:  Helpguide.org.

It has one of the most thorough, understandable set of short to the point discussions with specifics that I have seen.

Try it.  Especially if you want to create a higher level of emotionally healthy thinking.

Toward your happiness,

K
