THANKS FOR THE WAY THE WORLD WORKS!!!!

THANKS FOR THE WAY THE WORLD WORKS!!!!

As I reached for my smoothie (thanks to Eric Edmeades) in the refrigerator, I told Robin “thank you for my smoothie” (which I say every day) and “thank you for my hard boiled egg”.  And then I remembered to thank Costco for making it available...and then I remembered to be thankful for the trucking in of all those items, for the egg producers (especially for the chickens), and everything that made it possible. (Oh… and thanks for learning about the benefits of intermittent fasting, as I am just starting to eat at 12 pm…)

And then I remembered how blessed and how grateful I am for having Robin in my life and for how great a person she has become and how good she is with me and for me...

And then...

The power to control your life - instead of the current circumstances.

The Power To Control Your Life, Tony Robbins (Video, 9:19) (I changed the title) - Most people let circumstances dictate their lives and how they feel, but you have the power to go beyond that.  (I’ll be putting out some materials on this shortly, in an attempt to totally alter the way you look at life and to dump your fears and anxieties totally - it will significantly change the way you look at and deal with things.  As you may know, I never charge for anything, so there is no monetary incentives for me. If you want to be notified when they come out, please get on the mailing list for this blog.)

Touching, moving, and inspiring...the movie...the book..

Touching at a core level - Fred Rogers - A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood

It's a movie, so touching and gulping-back-tears...so well done...
I hope you get to see it.

[It is interesting that the wisdom he gave to children is essentially the wisdom we are trying to capture in our lives as adults... it would seem that it is time for us to learn that wisdom, finally...]

Here's his book, full of wisdom we adults could all use: You Are Special...

Overcoming Hopelessness - So Very Inspiring, From The Man With No Limbs...

I couldn’t help but be touched and inspired by this...by “seeing what we have and not angry for what we don’t have”...by the realistic hope that there is for all of us in this world...

Overcoming Hopelessness, Nick Vujicic (Tedx video, 14:53)

[I loved his book: Life Without Limits - Inspiration For A Ridiculously Good Life.]

I Am Growing And Notice So Much Happening In The Moment...

(In email, click on the post title in order to read the entire post.)

This is from “Tim”, growing in his awareness of who he is and how to apply his power to life.
It includes my comments, including a dissertation Everything Else Is Derivative Of Seeking Safety and also a piece on “Over Time Most Issues And Problems Will Disappear”, if you are in the life learning mode!

It includes decisions on what he will do, as he looks at and understands “who I really am” plus his digesting of The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People

I Am Growing And Notice So Much Happening In The Moment

“Tim” is also showing those who want a better life how to proactively learn and, then, create the life one wants as one progresses up the learning curve of life...but much, much faster than others....  He is fitting as much time at this as possible into his life, and is setting a great example for others...

To be truly alive, just be very ordinary...

(In email, click on the post title in order to read the entire post.)

JUST BE VERY ORDINARY

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: To be truly alive, just be very ordinary - but what about being extraordinary!?!

In his fireside interview with Vishen Lakhiani of Mindvalley University, Sri Sri replied that to be truly alive it takes just being “very ordinary”, realizing that you are but “a speck of sand” in this world.

But, you might ask doesn’t this conflict with “being extraordinary” as is the suggested goal in at least the Mindvalley class?

No, we can just be fine with just being very ordinary as a man and not have stressful and/or unrealistic expectations of having to be extraordinary.

The stress of trying to live up to unrealistic expectations causes unhappiness, as you’ll surely derive from Christine Hassler’s lecture at Mindvalley U and her book The Expectation Hangover.  Indeed, unrealistic expectations are a sure contributing cause to The Unhappiness Gap.

One can seek to be extraordinary in how one lives and to create more good for ourselves and others without being attached to the outcome, without HAVING TO BE extraordinary (for the benefit of our ego) in order to be happy.

A practical philosophy to consider if you want to live a great life...

Those who do “metathinking” (thinking about thinking and then doing something to change the thinking!) live self aware and happy lives.  Those who don’t think about what they are thinking and whether it is true or not or should be upgraded remain on a mediocre path of just being pushed around by circumstances.

Along these lines, I have a number of books on stoicism, which I essentially agree with - not the blatantly false rumored “non-emotionality” but it’s practicality for creating greater happiness through realistic (not negative) thinking.

One of the books is called How To Be A Stoic: Using Ancient Philosophy To Live A Modern Life.  I like the clarification it makes about stoicism:

“In reality, Stoicism is not about suppressing or hiding emotion—rather, it is about acknowledging our emotions, reflecting on what causes them, and redirecting them for our own good. It is also about keeping in mind what is and what is not under our control, focusing our efforts on the former and not wasting them on the latter. It is about practicing virtue and excellence and navigating the world to the best of our abilities, while being mindful of the moral dimension of all our actions.”

You might want to buy that book as part of your quest to live your greatest life...

Stress or distress? The Cures

(In email, click on the post title in order to read the entire post.)

We can live with virtually no distress (negative stress), but enjoy the good feeling stress of going after something we want.

Here is the answer to a person looking for tips on how to handle his stress.  The "trick" is in handling this at the level of curing each thing completely instead of tips and having to handle the same stresses over and over and over and over

This over-stressing by so many people has gotta be stopped!!!!

Read Stress Or Distress? The Cures.

For those who actually follow through on this, this could dramatically upgrade your life and your happiness!

A possible training to literally transform your life...

(In email, click on the post title in order to read the entire post.)

I am passing on this article on the Landmark Training as I thought it expressed rather well what people have gotten out of it.   The Landmark Forum And Attaining Freedom From The Past.

I encourage you to explore this training for yourself.  My evaluation of it is at: Landmark Education As A Resource For Wisdom To Live At A Higher Level Of Life.

If you take it, please "milk it" (learn it deeply) to get all you can out of it.  Please don't leave it at 1/2 of what you could get from this training. Many of the concepts in it are further discussed on  my site, for those who wish to seek further clarification.

The vital skill in life, for no anger, blame, criticism...zero tolerance...

(In email, click on the post title in order to read the entire post.)

Although the primitive mind might believe that staying in a negative emotion might save us from a threat, it is not true.  It actually tends to disable us emotionally and to make us dysfunctional.

It is proven that happy emotions make us more effective and more productive, while any negative emotion so engages the primitive mind that we are ineffective and cannot be happy.

It is imperative, if we are to have a very happy life, that we have zero tolerance for staying in any negative emotion.  This doesn't mean we don't pay attention to what it is telling us, if anything.  It does mean, however, that we have zero tolerance for the cause of the negative emotion.  And our self-talk, our internal conversation, and our beliefs therein are the cause of those emotions, so they are what we need to correct.

We cannot operate effectively in life if we allow negative emotions to be so prevalent, so why let it continue even for a moment more than the minimum time it takes to notice them?

So, your practice that is essential to be committed to is to 1) notice the negative emotion, 2) take a "short pause" (aka The Power Pause) to engage the higher brain, 3) most likely note down the causal negative conversation, and 4) correct it, through later review or in the moment, so that a true belief replaces the one that caused the upset - leading you to a condition of "no upset".

Part of "correcting" the current conversation may involve your bringing in a previously devised corrected conversation, such as a mantra or affirmative statement that you can recall right away, as you've practiced it.  It can be whatever you choose, such as "This is not true.  I am actually ok.  This is nothing.  I am simply a human being doing the best I can, ever growing in wisdom and love."  Barksdale provides some very, very good materials for those (such as this piece, which includes lots of good statements) and you can use the links in this article to go to the relevant sections

If you follow this practice and study the philosophy on the site (No Fault, plus Fearlessness), you will reach the desired zero tolerance level so that the following desirable conditions will exist: (check these off as accomplished or rate them on a 1 to 10 basis on how far you are along on the scale of attaining them, which is relatively easy to do, once you've "gotten" the core concept related to fault and fearlessness.)

__ Zero blame
__ Zero fault
__ Zero anger
__ Zero complaining
__ Zero resentment
__ Zero criticism
__ Zero worry

You will "get off it" the moment you see a negative emotion.  And, as a result, your life will elevate itself to a "highly life value" productivity level of true happiness.

You MUST, as a requirement for your living a truly happy life, commit to zero tolerance for the rest of your life.

If you did do this, imagine how much better your life would be.  (Especially, note how many problems and negative emotions in the past would no longer be there!)

Will you do it?

(If you choose to do it, a brief note would be appreciated: Contact.)

This ties in with the other recent blog pieces The "Can't Complain" (ever) Philosophy and also the Commit Forever To No Negative Conversations (enter the phrase into the search engine if not linked or simply scroll down on the blog).

I'll guarantee that this will transform your life, and will even make a huge difference even if you only slightly master it.

Please choose to go "zero tolerance" for the rest of your life!

Why you "Can't Complain", Ever...

(In email, click on the post title in order to read the entire post.)

I have annotated for you this great article written in the High Existence site.  It is long and deep and worthwhile truly studying and building into your philosophy of life.  I've added a few links (as I am prone to do) that I think will be helpful.

Those who read this will benefit from the perspective.  Those who truly study it, understand it, and implement it will benefit immensely and be much further along the road to true, enduring, unconditional happiness.

The Can't Complain Philosophy  (Click to "view it on the web" and/or copy it to read it.)

(Keep in mind that it is beliefs that cause emotions, so apply the beliefs processing system from my site.)

May you fully harvest all the benefits from this experience of reading this piece.

A note on the learning process:  Life and learning are not often as organized and linear as we would like.  But a funny thing happens if you keep "moving forward" and learning more about the pieces of philosophy, psychology, and life - your mind will gradually make "order" from the chaos - and you will begin to experience more and more wisdom, that will raise the level of your life to heights that you've never experienced before...and sustainably!  (See Effective Learning.)

Why Is It Important To Have A Life Philosophy?

(In email, click on the post title in order to read the entire post.)

It is, indeed, foolish to go into life without a truly strong, clear, defined philosophy of life. It leaves one vulnerable to fears and doubts and to ineffectiveness in life - and it makes you likely to not achieve what is most important in life, leading to massive regrets later in your life.

I found this article to be of value:  Why Is It Important To Have A Life Philosophy?  (It is annotated in an Evernote page, to add emphasis and comments.)

I recommend that you read that annotated article and then consider spending at least two hours writing out your philosophy of life (and continuing on, over the next few weeks to the extent that you find that the exercise continues to provide value for each period of time you invest in creating it).  To orient yourself, and to get ideas and points about what to address (including a few things you might just want to copy, as I’ve worked up examples of what are pieces of a highly workable philosophy of life:  ESTABLISHING A STRONG LIFE PHILOSOPHY).

Do this and I absolutely guarantee that your life will be noticeably improved...and you’ll be happier, clearer, and much more at peace....

The Life Views Of Thomas Edison And Others Who “Played With And In Life”

A nicely written piece on “Amor Fati”, total acceptance and a progressive way of looking at life.
An Empowering Way Of Viewing Life.

An invaluable viewpoint to choose to live life in...

Keith

P.S.: One of the most vital things one can do in life is to solidly establish one’s “Philosophy Of Life” so that one has a strong foundation for living a better life.  Few people will even spend an hour doing so (though it is best to start with spending a few hours some Saturday morning).  The format and some inputs are on the site, starting at Establishing A Strong Foundational Philosophy Of Life.

In fact, I would urge that you do this completely as it establishes a complete basis for looking at life in a powerful way and helps form one’s basis for a sound, healthy psychology....

Share this with others on social media and/or using the little white envelope right below this post.  Sharing what you find of value helps others focus on what’s important that will contribute to their lives - and some pieces (we never know which one) can be life changing...

Good thinking leads to good conclusions, which lead to... read this great interview.

(In an email, click on the title of the post to read the entire post.)

Good thinking (which includes "good learning") leads to good conclusions about life.  Good conclusions about life lead to a good life.  Great conclusions about life lead to a great life.

People who believe in what "can't be proven false yet can't be proven true" are floating around in DangerLand if they use those beliefs as fundamental truths.  They aren't.  They are in reality hypotheses about the unknowable.  You can believe in them if it is beneficial, but first it is necessary to tie down the true truths (the provably true ones).  (Every human being should read the book of this title, but for now each of them might view my summary page:  The Believing Brain.)

It's your choice, but...

READ THIS...

The Farnam Street blog (which many of you should subscribe to, methinks) just forwarded a two hour interview of such wisdom that I feel compelled to forward access to you.  Generously, they have also allowed access to the transcript of the full interview (!!!!).

This is not just to be read (only to disappear in the ether of LaterLand or NothingLand), but it should be studied and used to derive some things that will actually change your life for the better when you install them into your life.

I won't suggest that you don't read it if you don't study it, but I will suggest that it would be a real pity if you did not fully harvest it for your life, including, probably, some questioning of things you hold to be true (but may not be provably true).

Go to OReading, Happiness, Systems for Decision Making, Habits, Honesty and More and scroll down the page and click "complete transcript" (and I suggest you save it in your Word account or a free Google docs account, which will allow you to highlight, add comments, etc. - use your internet search engine, entering "how to convert a pdf into a google doc").

I would suggest that that transcript is worth going viral... And that it would be a gift to others is you share this blog post in social media or use the little white envelope below for an email.

I will likely do a special "white paper" around this which will tie my site's relevant pages to what the interviewee (Naval Ravikant) says (so that you can read deeper on a topic or assertion).  To be notified of this, a person would need to sign up for the email notification service (up and to the right).

Remember, please, that my site is on a not-for-profit basis, with no other motives than to simply "pay it forward".
