Well-Being: Life Satisfaction, Resiliency To Stress, And Ability To Focus - What score do you have?

(Click on the title of this post to read the entire post.)

THE 3 CORE WELL-BEING MEASURES

It is my contention that no one should stop or slow down their rate of "Life Learning" (learning about how to manage life and oneself to attain high well-being) until they at least attain an 8 on a scale of 10 in what life-xt.com calls in their assessment rating questionnaire the "resilience test" (take it):

1.  Satisfaction with life:  "Measures your level of satisfaction with the circumstances of your life. A high score means that you feel content, fulfilled, and grateful for your life circumstances most of the time. A lower score indicates that you feel there are significant aspects of your life that could be changed for the better.

To enhance your overall life satisfaction, LIFE XT recommends the practice of daily meditation, inquiry, and gratitude." Satisfaction is derived, methinks, from what I am calling the four components to happiness

2.  Resiliency to stress: "Measures your perceived stress around the challenges that arise in life. A high score means that you feel confident in your ability to take on challenges and rarely feel overwhelmed or burdened by stress. A lower score (anything under 5) means that you are experiencing high levels of stress, which may impact your physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

To enhance your resiliency to stress, LIFE XT recommends the practice of daily meditation, movement, relationships, and engagement."  The greatest "source" of stress is actually misbeliefs, for which the only known cure is to correct those beliefs in a process of inquiry, determining what is correct, and then replacing them - there is no other (miracle) way.

3.  Focus:  "Measures your ability to sustain your attention on a single object of concentration. A high score means that you spend the bulk of your day feeling both present to the moment and finding it easy to sustain your attention on the task at hand. A low score means that you easily slip into the traps of distraction and mind wandering.

To enhance your focus, LIFE XT recommends the practice of daily meditation, presence, and engagement."  Note that it is not possible to "be present" if one is engaged in fears, anxiety, and/or self-concern most of the time!  Solving those is the key cornerstone to creating a greater life.

There is a good book that one should use at least until the point of "some" mastery on the key practices: Start Here - Master The Lifelong Habit Of Well-Being. (Please do not wait based on the hope that you will, in the future, make a heroic leap to wisdom, great self discipline, or life somehow working out on its own!!!!  A human being can only rise in the levels of being by building the  supporting structure to do so.

WHY WOULD ONE STOP SHORT?

Indeed, why would a person stop short of intensely learning life before he could assure the greatest life?

It would appear that only a fool or a person not fully informed would quit too early and/or not do enough to make life better as fast and early as possible.  The problem, of course, is not the basic human being, but the lack of, or insufficiency of, sufficient information to have one see "the why" and the arguments for it.  The results is that we are not motivated to do what is "smart" and the most crucial thing we can do in life.

Of course, if one does not see a clear path for life learning, one is likely to not stay on any path of learning.  So the challenge for me is to create such a path for people to follow and stay on until the destination..  For now (until the book is written), one might start with The Only Sure Path To The Greatest Life

Often a person is "too busy" to "have the time".  (See Busy, Busyness, Lack Of Time - And Lack Of Success In Life.)

He basically needs to know that he needs to drop all lower value things other than what it takes to keep one's life together.  The "skill" to apply here is actually a "practice" also, as discussed in my book on the subject, wherein one "frees up the time" first and foremost, and then commits it to life learning.  See Life Value Productivity on the site.

The irony is that taking the time to "learn life" actually frees up time. See The Time Freed Up By Learning Life And Solving All Of Your Problems!!

SO, NOW, WHAT WILL YOU DO?

The minimum amount of time need to make progress is 5 hours per week. (Read How To Find The Time For Life Improvement - There's Lots Of Time And You'll Get More Spare Time.)  [Just block out the time on your calendar!  Right now! And then keep it on your calendar until you've reached the right level!]

Will you follow through such that you score at least an 8 on each of these?

If not, let me know what is needed and/or what is the missing piece for you.  (Contact)

Also, if anyone can suggest a better way to persuade people to take the steps necessary on the path of life learning, please forward your suggestion and/or book/article that does a better job of it.   (Thank you!!!)

What's missing in the "go for it" miracle thinking? (Modify your declaration...)

(Click on the title of the post to read the entire post.)

There are bodies strewn all along the side of the "go for it" success road.  "Go for it" is a simple urging that is supposed to motivate and create - but it most often fails as it is insufficient and unrealistic in and of itself.  We do not reach higher states of existence or productivity by trying to leap over all the work that is needed to build up to the required higher state of being.

This reminds me of the famous cartoon as discussed in And Then A Miracle Happens...Wanna Bet?.  The observer says, in suggesting a substitute for the great leap of a miracle, "I think you should be more explicit here in step two (which is 'and then a miracle happens')."

It is never as simple as "be motivated", "just go for it!", "be world class", "be the best!"...

In the last post, about committing 100% to a higher way of being, many people probably experienced a retriggering of a belief about how they have always fallen short on such "affirmations" or "resolutions".  And then the primitive mind's memory coughs up an "association" with such a thing causing stress, around the idea that it is "so hard" and "I might fail".  So in that awful anticipation, one inevitably "fails" as if by predetermined magic. (Learn The Skill And Process For Effective Change.)

But whenever there are details missing from the entire process of getting from one point to another, there is always a great chance for "non-success".  One cannot in a 4 step process required to reach a specific result leave out, say, step 2, and expect the same result (except through luck, which might not be a very good strategy for running one's life!).   This is all about the simply ironclad rule of reality called "Cause And Effect", which you MUST learn and buy into!  Read 1 2 3 4 = Success - Anything Else Does Not.  And, of course, you should know that the only way to succeed is to do The Build, which is also a MUST to know and buy into! .

In a nutshell, you must "build" yourself and/or a system that has all the pieces in it to cause it to succeed or you're likely to have an unworkable strategy that will not get you to the desired result.  And, yes, it does require, always, learning 1) "how things work" and 2) "how to work them", which, of course, precedes your 3) taking actions that work!!   Duh!  But people try to skip the steps and try to get instant results.

How does this apply to the necessary "commitment to being"?

It means, for one, that you must consider the likely obstacles and have a plan/method/system for solving them!!!

Directly strengthening the positive forces or weakening the negative forces (see The Law Of Numbers And Strength) is the basic overall strategy.  And you've seen this in action as people will add to affirmations or a "vision" something like "with ease and grace".

I might add something like "I am 100% committed to making sure that I take great care of myself, my very being, my primitive brain, always assuring first that I am in The Zone of high functioning balance."

In fact, I did actually include in my "This Is Who I Am Committed To Being And To Doing, Period!" the paragraphs that follows, which are a part of my overall declarations, and being further edited:

"I am 100% committed to my being this, without excuse and without weakness of power being an excuse.  I shall handle the weakness first thing and create, as the first priority of strength and power, directly resting, recovering, renewing as needed, and not escaping or avoiding as a false means of “resting” or “relieving”.  I will not stand for anything less than holding and/or returning as needed to the high operating zone, where I can truly be alive and have the power to create all that I truly want and to be of true service to myself and to the world.

Without compromise or taking any of this casually, I assure that my health is excellent.  Without compromise or diversion I assure that I have at least good energy all day (before the winddown).
Each day, I am 100% committed, no matter what, to doing my grounding, my moving/exercising to energize, and my planning to fully launch the day.  This is not optional nor conditional. It is a MUST for the life I insist on having.   I do this in peace and happy contentment - as the highest level purpose in my life. "

So... keeping yourself in high emotional health is a MUST on the road to the greatest life and the pieces you've chosen to be in that life.  It is not an option.  There should not be any "suffering through it".  There must only be a channeling of energy to that which is of the greatest value - and that is the key to getting the highest "life value" cumulatively in total.

And, I would be disingenuous if I did not back this up with an actual "doing".  It seems that life works only this way:  Being --> Doing --> Having.  It is not Being --> Having... or miracles and great leaps.

A huge factor in achieving peace and living in The Zone is implementing the actions in The Daily Launch - watch the linked videos, too, but absolutely, without hesitation, put this into your life, right now, immediately, asap...and do a great job of it, for it is an essential step!  (Of course, part of that launch is reading your declaration of commitment to ways of being!!!)

Multitasking and multiprojecting - both harmful for all living creatures

[If you receive this by email, click on the title to see the full post.]

MULTITASKING AND ITS COSTS

Somehow people believe that they can do several tasks at once, but ALL of the studies show that

1.  It is impossible to do two things at once.  So far, no human has been able to do it.
2.  We are simply switching between tasks with our limited attention units as a human.
3.  The extra costs incur in the fact that the mind must pause and think in order to start another task well.  There is always a cost.
4.  All of the studies show that a person is much, much less productive doing multitasking than sticking to one task for a longer period.
5.  One's brain ends up being trained to not pay attention and to be more frantic, so the primitive brain is dramatically more anxious than if it is trained to pay constant attention for a bit.  (And the anxiety causes one to operate less effectively all by itself!  So there is double dipping in terms of harm to one's productivity and also one's happiness!)

See  The Huge Costs Of Multitasking - A Fool's Errand!  And make a decision on whether you are going to straighten up this damaging way of operating.

MULTIPROJECTING AND ITS COSTS

The productivity experts recommend that you stop believing you are superman (or superwoman) and that you follow the rules that fit humans.

Basically, the rule is to never have more than two major projects at one time.

You simply cannot do more, at least not well and definitely not efficiently.

Those people who keep on having more will always be super-busy, super-stressed - and sitting there wondering what's wrong with themselves, as they "should" be able to do it, as, after all, "others can do it, so they should be able to do it.  However, the fact is that it is simply idealism and false hero worship for a person to believe that others can do - as they can't do it well - and we misperceive, without really adequate evidence, that others are able to and are doing these fantasized levels of being above humankind's capabilities.

Everybody who violates the rule will suffer in some way, emotionally and in terms of productivity.
Don't do it.

Each time you return to a different project, besides losing momentum, you will have to figure out where you were, restart your thinking mode, lost you prior stream of thinking.  You will think less well if you are anxious and pressures because of the busyness and wondering if you can get it all done well.  You will be prone to procrastinating and juggling.  You, just plain, will suffer, as well as the quality of your work.

In my book (which is about producing happiness), called Life Value Productivity, says that we will always lose productivity when we violate the rule of the straight line and start zig zagging back and forth in life or between multiple projects.

JUST DON'T DO EITHER OF THESE, UNLESS YOU ARE SUPERMAN/WOMAN!

Both of those strategies are very costly, in terms of losses in productivity but also in emotional well-being.  We take on the impossible and somehow think it will work, not noticing that it most often is not working!  Imagine that "not noticing"!  Amazing, and definitely the opposite of Living Life As A Life Champion.   It's more like Living Life As A Boiling Frog.  Your choice: keep on the same path or change it.  Well, duh!
