To be a master of life and to live a great life, you MUST do this...

(If you receive this by email click the title of the post to read the entire post.)

No master of living life gets to be at that level without having traveled the path of
learning how key things in life:

1.  Work

      AND

2.  How to work them

Obviously 1 comes before 2, since we must have sufficient "distinctions" (details, understanding) about how something functions if we are able to actually do something.  BUT, notice that I say "SUFFICIENT" and I don't say to know EVERYTHING about something - the smart navigator of life  is just looking for those things that have the highest payoff in terms of benefiting life.  He/she will not spend time "perfecting" something if doing so has little benefit for the extra effort.  (Duh!).

Sometimes it is sufficient to just copy what somebody else does.  But even then we must understand and see what is necessary to be able to do the same thing.  But we do not have to know how to put together a watch in order to be able to tell time.  We are strictly interested in doing what gets us the best RESULTS in life - and not in accumulating data with no use!

One very necessary (duh!) thing to know is "how to think" (to make decisions, solve problems, design the future).

One very useful blog to follow is one where some people might say "that is beyond me" or "that's going too far".  But the exposure to this, even if it is a "stretch" will increase one's ability to think, and thus to live a better life with better choices.

The Farnam Street blog's motto:  Mastering the best of what other people have already figured out.  (It is broader than just "thinking", but everything in it is a result of careful thought and selection of "what works" in life!)

I recommend that you subscribe to the email list.
