In many spiritual teachings, one is encouraged to honor “one’s reality”. But many people misunderstand that.
Those same teachings suggest that our thoughts should not be considered to be real or even true in many cases and to “let them float by like a cloud passing through the sky” but giving them no more heed than that.
The teachings want you to pay attention and to take into account one’s “signals” or “possible information” from one’s body and mind. That part is valid.
But people have taken this to mean that the data itself is true, which it often isn’t - it must be vetted by the higher mind or we’ll accept the unthoughtout and often false thought in the Primitive Mind.
The definition of “my reality” is “that which I actually in reality see/hear in my mind”. “My reality” in my limited bubble in this world is that I think certain thoughts. Yes, they are “my truths” if I don’t realize that they aren’t true, but they are no THE truth - they are only bits of data organized into something that means something that may or may not correspond with the actual truth in reality.
It is, however, not true that because I have those thoughts that they are true. “My reality”, in other words, does not necessary line up with “actual reality” out there in the real world. “My reality” is not reality. I may have some thoughts that reflect reality accurately but I also have many that don’t. I have to “vet” (verify) them one at a time before I accept (or reject) those thoughts - or I will be operating “unsmartly” in life.
Bottomline: I should never use “my reality” as a proof that my thoughts actually are true, valid, or in reality.
This is a big thinking error. I suggest you avoid it in favor of seeking out what is true and then operating on that, for a much better life.
_______________
Consider What Is Reality? Know What It Is Or Suffer From Irreality!
You should also know that any thought from the primitive mind unchecked out should not be considered as valid. That means you should not believe or obey many of your impulses or inclinations AND that you should not believe its general chatter or “background conversation”, especially about how bad, unworthy, stupid, inadequate, limited, etc., that you are. Every single major belief should be questioned and then replaced with a valid one before actually believing it.
