A practical philosophy to consider if you want to live a great life...

Those who do “metathinking” (thinking about thinking and then doing something to change the thinking!) live self aware and happy lives.  Those who don’t think about what they are thinking and whether it is true or not or should be upgraded remain on a mediocre path of just being pushed around by circumstances.

Along these lines, I have a number of books on stoicism, which I essentially agree with - not the blatantly false rumored “non-emotionality” but it’s practicality for creating greater happiness through realistic (not negative) thinking.

One of the books is called How To Be A Stoic: Using Ancient Philosophy To Live A Modern Life.  I like the clarification it makes about stoicism:

“In reality, Stoicism is not about suppressing or hiding emotion—rather, it is about acknowledging our emotions, reflecting on what causes them, and redirecting them for our own good. It is also about keeping in mind what is and what is not under our control, focusing our efforts on the former and not wasting them on the latter. It is about practicing virtue and excellence and navigating the world to the best of our abilities, while being mindful of the moral dimension of all our actions.”

You might want to buy that book as part of your quest to live your greatest life...
