“Substitute” to “displace” a negative thought/feeling!!!!

(In email, click on the post title in order to read the entire post.)

In the piece called The Physics Of Life, it points out that in the real world, 2 things cannot occupy the same space at the same time.

That is also true of thoughts.

But our natural tendency is to keep thinking the negative (there’s a reason why, related to the “need” to resolve all problems) when all it does is make us feel bad and does no good for seeking a solution!

Super basic is the reality that we can simply make up a new thought (probably the opposite of the negative thought) and insert it in the “self conversation” - and displace the negative thought, if only for a moment.  We can keep displacing the negative thought if we wish to, but an easy way to occupy the space is to simply breathe deeply (sending a message to the brain that “all is well”) and say some mantra or the equivalent, such as “All is well.  Life is good!” (Whether it is true or not, it will accomplish the displacement of the negative and thus you’ll be at a higher level of feeling.)

This article reminded me of it:  Stressed?  Take That Moment To Reset.  The key phrase that I liked was: Did you know that you can’t take a deep conscious breath and feel stressed at the same time?

This is also related to your using the key every day practice of taking the short Power Pauses.
