One big thing at a time or many big things...what will work?
PRINCIPLES, REALITIES
1. If one chooses to do any one thing, one is, of course, choosing not to do some other thing. (Duh!)
2. Two objects (“things”, thoughts) cannot occupy the same space at the same time. (Duh!)
3. Work first on what has the highest impact/importance, as much as you can, if you want the best results/impact on one's life
VIOLATE THEM AND EXPECT...?
Violate or fail to consider any of these and you'll run into trouble down the road...or at least fail to crete the good, the results, that you really wanted in life.
Many people tend to ignore these three realities and just proceed as if they were supermen/women who could “do it all”. “Doing it all” is what leads to doing nothing (as well) of much impact.
FOCUSING ON THE ONE THING
The book “The One Thing” is now a modern “classic” in that it suggests that you focus on The One Thing, the one thing that will get you the most impact (best results) on your life.
WHAT WOULD YOU ADVISE THIS PERSON TO DO?
A very well meaning, inspired person can try to “fix his life up" quickly by doing many things that will improve his life.
But, I ask you, what would you advise a person in this case, where he/she is trying to:
Save his business (and not diminish his wealth) and/or get a job
Taking a health class that requires a couple of hours a week for many weeks
Taking a “high performance” class (yes, another one!)
Training to run a marathon within half a year (starting from close to zero)
What are the chances of doing all of this...well?
What are the chances of saving the business?
What would you advise him to do?
WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
Are you focusing on The One Thing, or are you scattering your energies around and getting less out of life. (Focusing on The One Thing assumes that you are keeping your vital resources in a productive state and being sure that you are living a happy life.)
