Stop ALL drinking and impulse eating, period! They are "out of homeostatic functioning"!!!

(If you received this in email, click on the title to see the whole post.)

Some people are using, to great benefit, The Power Pause in their business circumstances and to stop negative thinking, but then they fail to apply it universally in ALL of the situations where we are operating "not in our well-functioning homeostatic zone" - or what I call "out" conditions.

Somehow, we fail to see that the 'out" conditions of being tired or frazzled and wanting to escape should be dealt with using The Power Pause - and that we would not rationally use the nonbeneficial "escape" strategies of the non-thinking lower brain and its programming.

If we were to do this wisely, we would note the "out" condition right away and the apply The Power Pause immediately to "recover" from that largely malfunctioning condition.

If we have an impulse to escape by numbing ourselves with the toxin of alcohol, instead, we might simply "turn off" the anxiety or discomfort or whatever thoughts are causing us to want to escape and go largely unconscious into more "nonfunctioning" or "malfunctioning" behavior.  The three key methods are generally sleeping/napping, meditation, and rigorous movement (to "wake up the body").

The same goes for impulse eating, which is often horrendous at night, when we are exhausted or worn down to some extent and extremely vulnerable, with no/low willpower, being in our lower brain and not really fully conscious or not really alive.

Under such conditions we also will tend to largely go unconscious in other ways, such as watching tv, playing computer games, and/or doing social media.  (While at the time, one tells him/herself that it is just deserved or necessary "relief" from the pressures of life or simply deserved relaxation or time for clearing the mind or something that is just "natural" and/or "human", that is a largely not a truly conscious level of thinking.  It is lower brain automatic nonconscious programming that is unquestioned.  Instead, if one looked back from the future perspective (which usually engages the higher brain's thinking) and asked whether it was worth it or damaging to do so much low level living, one might realize that other choices and reconnoitering at the time to determine what was better would have been a far, far better choice.)

The bottom line here is that you would, if in your fully functioning higher brain, not tolerate or allow ANY alcohol numbing or other harmful behavior (impulse eating is damaging).

If you were truly using The Power Pause for all "out" conditions, you would first fully return to your power from any and ALL "out" conditions, not just some.  After all, the purpose is to live in your power, to live life fully and consciously, completely alive and feeling good.

I suggest you allow no exceptions to the rule to institute in each case and fully complete The Power Pause and that you never allow yourself to not be in your power (or in the process of restoring it).

Although I learned to never numb myself with any alcohol, I still needed to either return to my full power at night (nap, meditate, exercise?) OR to operate from strict predecided rules about impulsive eating (fully written up, with the logic for it available when I need it to re-mind my "self").
