Something undesired happens and then we "get to" react to it.
Those who live life well, spend almost no time in getting upset about what has been lost or feeling distressed about things going badly, or about how good or bad they are.
One of the reasons for this is that they close the loop on the questions of life, such as the eternally haunting "Am I good enough?"
If you don't thoroughly and definitively answer that and other "existential" questions, you'll constantly, of course, be "living in the question", where it sucks part of your life (and attention) out of you, not to mention that it just plain doesn't feel good.
Of course, most of us don't treat these as questions, as we usually walk around saying something like "I'm not good enough, please tell me I am, please, I want some proof or ap-prove-al..."
This is a big open loop in your life. It is worth it to spend the time to close it now. Don't let it continue to run, or ruin, your life.

There aren't many "existential" questions. Another one is "am I competent enough to live life well?", a version of "will I be ok in the future?". If we answer the question of "do I have 'enough' in life right now", it helps answer, indirectly, the question of whether to worry about having enough in the future - it changes one's feeling of safety, helping to answer the question "Am I Safe?"
Since this is of vital importance in life, in fact the very foundation for life, I'd recommend you spend no less than 30 hours looking at and installing the answers to the questions of life. You could start by considering the pieces that follow: (I copied these directly off the site.)
