Have you ever observed this?:
IDEAS, EXCITEMENT AND HOPES GALORE
"I had so many good ideas, lots more than the others. And they were impressed."
IDEAS, EXCITEMENT AND HOPES GALORE
"I had so many good ideas, lots more than the others. And they were impressed."
Obviously the person saying this was impressed.
He gained some approval of himself from himself and some from others.
He probably loves the excitement of new ideas, as they represent to the primitive brain "hopes" for the future being better.
BUT...WHAT COULD HAPPEN...
But, if we are not careful, the love for the idea of having good ideas may run, and ruin, our lives, to the extent that "good ideas" and thinking up good ideas becomes so attractive that it catches the person up in such a way that he does not actually implement what is needed to have a good, happy, effective life and to actually achieve the results he/she desires.
To use a metaphor, this person is having fun revving his engine and spinning his tires, as if his vehicle is raised off the ground with the wheels spinning but going nowhere because "the rubber is not meeting the road" - he is not going forward. He is always stuck in the no, or slow, progress lane and in the ineffectiveness lane with his life not progressing to one of being happier and more effective.
Another concept that applies here occurs among wishful thinking people. They wish for things but then do not do the necessary actions, hoping that somehow things will come to them if they just "think" hard enough. These people fall for The Secret, The Law Of Attraction, but only the "romantic" parts, overlooking "the work" that needs to be done in the real world to bring about that which one truly wants.
IF IT'S ALL IN THE MIND...
Maria Nemeth, in one of her workshops, talks about how easy it is to move around in one's mind, where there is super fast flow without any physical barriers, in what we call the "metaphysical" world of "not physical" but more of a meaning and thinking nature. It can be very exciting to have all those ideas and to think that they will somehow instantly or easily come about.
And, indeed, everything is hunky dory until one gets to "the border" between the metaphysical world and the physical world.
It seems that the real world, the physical world requires time and effort to get things done, along with real obstacles and forces that impede one from going forward without friction.
Those who live their lives in their own little ideal metaphysical world experience that their ideas and much of what they dream about will, when they get to the border, "metafizzle". They live lives of disappointment, regret, dashed hopes, and not much forward movement in life - and they have to work much harder at things, since they don't know the practical things that work in the real world.
IT'S DUE TO BELIEFS THAT ARE PATENTLY FALSE!
Of course, the basis for all of this comes down to having false beliefs and the related unrealistic hopes or expectations.
Part of the syndrome that this is involved in includes a sort of "passive" view of life, where hope and wishful thinking are the "driving" forces.
This relates often to childhood, where a child learned that others could get what one wanted for him/herself, so he/she depended on approval and love from the others - and then set up for themselves a 'dependency" world of depending on other people or circumstances getting for them what is wanted and needed.
Of course, the beliefs behind this way of thinking are false.
But they are very seductive.
And people will spend their lives hoping those beliefs will work, and experience it failing over and over - but intermittent reinforcement, where it seems to work out a few times here and there, keeps them going on with thinking that just doesn't work in the real world. Instead, they must look and see and acknowledge that it isn't working and then ask and find out how to make life work better.
Once they get the perspective and understand how their metaphysical mental masturbation doesn't work, they have to alter their behavior where they have to give up their addictive mental "fun", at least a lot of it, and devote their energies to actually doing what is of value and making it happen. The "kidlike" thinking, the attraction to shiny objects and possilities that kindle hope and wishful thinking, the passive attitude, unrealistically thinking that they can "have it all" (that somehow magically it'll all fit into the time available) etc., must be forfeited to a great degree. And that time and energy must be devoted to actually getting results.
AND, NOW...
So, here we are, seeing the "bad beliefs" instigating their behavior and the addictions they have to it, and now we must solve the problem, or it'll continue to destroy their lives just as any addiction (and continued misbeliefs) do.
The beginning involves devoting time to effective implementation where nothing else can be done during a period of time devoted to it.
And it involves acknowledging fully, in writing, what one has been doing and what the effect it is having one oneself and, of course, on the others around him.
It takes some work, which he'll tend to avoid in favor of the easier metaphysical world.

If this applies to you or someone you care about, it is imperative that you start your work on this. It'll take some learning, perhaps starting with understanding "the role" that one is playing in in this syndrome: The Child Persona. But note that the first reaction will be to deny that he/she is still playing that role, as it feels demeaning - but the evidence is clear in their lives: passiveness, not taking full responsibility, lots of unsolved problems, relative ineffectiveness in life overall, lots of angst and fear, others are in control of them, they are depend on others (or codependent) especially for "approval".
They should follow the links (go down the rabbithole, so to speak) until there is full understanding.
At some point they will have to reconstruct their lives based on correct knowledge and beliefs, which they can do via reading the pieces in The Only Sure Path To The Greatest Life.
This process will result in "coming out into the light" more and more and effectiveness rising by leaps and bounds - all of which is quite delightful to experience (and watch happen to others).
It's all up to you now.
