Stop Caring What Other People Think - Based on these insights!

Read this article to learn why you have an “irrational unproductive obsession with what other people think of you”.  If you “get” it and then do the simple exercises, this could drastically improve your life!!!!

Yes, 50,000 years ago, social acceptance meant everything, in a “small tribe without whose support you might die or not live well. “
“Because of this, humans evolved an over-the-top obsession with what others thought of them—a craving for social approval and admiration, and a paralyzing fear of being disliked.”

Though society and the world have changed such that “social survival is no longer a real concept” we still have with us a “large, hungry, and easily freaked-out woolly mammoth who still thinks it’s 50,000 BC.”

Part of growing away from the control of the woolly mammoth is realizing that:

1.  It has a low IQ, with poor understanding and some bad decisions and myriad fears that are totally irrational!!   (See Understanding How The Primitive Brain’s Thoughts Work - Not Undestandng Perpetuates Ideas That Keep You Stuck.)

2. That its efforts are counterproductive,

If you realize these, then you can’t help, methinks, at least questioning them and also not “obeying” them.

Some people (few) see that social acceptance does not really matter in terms of actual consequences (which are about zero).  (As discussed in Notice: Nothing Actually Happened - One Of The Greatest Philosophical Insights!)

Once you’ve conquered this area, most of your fears, approval seeking, and being controlled by others will disappear!  This is our goal. And then you can “play” at life, creating what YOU want that is of actual value to you!

How do you  recover from this?  Follow the exercises in this article (Make up a sheet of paper and put in the question or exercises on it and answer it in writing - it must be in writing or you’ll not make progress!!!!

So, now, you can read this article and let it go the way of most people’s non-action, or you can do it completely...and change your life!
