Checklists, boring? But working “on” your business/life instead of just in it!!

(In email, click on the post title in order to read the entire post.)

The core, simplest secret to success, is to look at what is or could go wrong and fix it, thoroughly installing it, just as a champion athlete would do.  (See Living The Life Of A Life Champion.)

Putting together (and following) a checklist for everything that is important, one at a time, is one of the most powerful, exciting (in terms of results, anyway), and fulfilling endeavors you can do.  It's one of the very top, most valuable things you can do.

If you're in business, it is said that you should not just spend your time working "in" the business (just doing the work and not looking beyond that), but you should time working "on" the business - to make it work better, to correct what is not working, to create more for the future.

But the fact is that that saying applies to life.  Don't just spend your time "in" living life, but spend enough time working "on" life to assure it is the best life.

And doing a checklist is one of the very best ways to do that.  In putting together the checklist, you ask and answer what is the best "thing to do next" after each item.  You ask and answer "what is a better way to do that?  How can I improve the process?  What is it I must not forget?  (Such as: "Did I review all the details, per the checklist, necessary to make sure this process will produce the desired result?"

I'd recommend that you use the practice of designing checklists for key items as a great way to work "on your business" (or even "on your life"), to create better systems such that you will get better results!

I hope, after not accepting my suggestion in the last post, that you reconsider and do this.  (And please don't say "well, I just don't do that type of thing" or "I can't do that".  Cut the excuses, reasons why not, and just do it.  Just pick one thing that would benefit from it and do it!

Get the basic idea and then choose how deep to go by reading:

And scanning the examples in

(And send me any good ones you run across, so I can include them on that page, to help save the time for others to design their checklists.  It is so much easier just starting from someone else's checklist/procedure and you can refine it even further upward.  Contact.)
