Born... Learn Ways Of Proceeding That Work Better For More And More Great Results...

(If you receive this by email, click on the title to see the full post.)

THE PROCESS

We are born.

We try to figure out how to get what we want.

We make some really stupid blunders, as little babies and growing up.

We figure out "ways of proceeding" to get what we want at the time.

When it doesn't work, we then try something else, quickly, as we don't have time to waste (so to speak), or at least it's urgent to eat and survive and be safe.

Eventually, we get a "way of proceeding" that works - "me cry, me get big person attention, me get fed" - And a genius is born!

THE SOURCE OF IT ALL

So, it turns out that we "have" intelligence that comes from a thing called a brain.  The "backup system" and supporting system are mechanically superior, but not so able to figure out new things.

We have a huge capability in our higher brain to "figure things out".  When we are figuring things out, we might call it "applying our intelligence", in order to get what we want out of life.

If one person has a lot more intelligence (say 40% more) than another, it does not mean the more intelligent one will do better in life.

How well he will do in life depends on how often he uses his higher brain for higher level thinking.

The net result in one's life comes from his rate and level of use of his, what we might call, "applied life intelligence".  (Not his innate, fixed intelligence!)

If the lower intelligence person figured out that the way to proceed in life was to use his higher brain twice as much as other people, he will produce about 50% more good in life than the higher intelligence person (believe me the math works!).

Now if one person somehow lucks upon another person who teaches him a better way of proceeding in using his brain then that person will have a more effective way of better processing the information and doing the "thinking".  He is then using a "way of proceeding" that works better, so he gets better results.

Some people learn how to use their brains better as a sort of mental checklist that works.  And some people just use a form that guides them through the steps in a systematic way (of proceeding) that works so that the results are even better.

Let's just say they just use, every time, the simplest form "1 1/3 Page Traditional Simple problem solving form.  (Other forms to choose from are listed on the master directory of Problem-Solving And Decision-Making Forms, so you can choose the level of complexity or how far you want to go.)

The person who uses that problem solving form will probably do at least twice as good as a person who goes at it at random, trying to cope as he goes, but unclear in his method - for the latter person has no "way of proceeding" that guides him and works very well.  The one using the form (or a "memorized way of proceeding" which is almost the equivalent of a form) will do much much better in his/her life in that area than will another person.  That person who uses the form will do better than even a much more intelligent person who is, however, unstructured in his way of proceeding.

AND, SO, THE SECRET TO A GREAT LIFE IS...

The secret to a great life is, drum roll, please...

Figure out a better way of proceeding (and/or use a better way of proceeding learned from someone else) and you will proceed through life proceeding onward toward getting more of what you want in life - and much more rapidly, too!

Having great pre-designed "ways of proceeding" not only provides a better way of proceeding to get results but if used more often does it much quicker and without, hardly, any mistakes.

OH, NOW THE BORING PART

While it is true that you'll like the idea of following the better way of proceeding that will get you better results, you probably won't like the alternate names and the boring thinking that one has to use to find the better ways.

The alternative names are

1. "Procedures" (double yuk, booorrrring),
2.  Systems (yes, they are ways that things proceed along the way)
3.  Checklists (a way of proceeding to not forget something and/or to follow the steps to do)
4.  Causal chain, followed that has been determined to produce the best "effect".  ("You kidding me, that sounds like scientific gobbledygook!")

The causal chain is simple yet essential to understand, as it is the entire way that physical reality (and "the universe") works.  (See the Causal Chain For Behaviors, to solve behavioral problems.  Or Using The Full Chain To Solve Problems to unravel problems. Or even The Causal Chain For Happiness, if you want to have a better way of proceeding to happiness!)

For each one of these "ways of proceeding" to get a desired result that you design, document, or copy and then use, you will produce more and more of a life that runs better and gets you more and more of the desired results you really want in life.

So, maybe you might learn the idea of how to create/find better ways of proceeding - and then go and create a great, far better working life of it.  (And, yes, you can learn this!  And you should learn it well, for your life depends on it!)

OH, AND ALSO THERE ARE SOME MASTER OVERALL WAYS OF PROCEEDING

While this an overview "way of proceeding" that contains within it more levels of depth to proceed along to get what you want in each step of the procedure/list/readings, this following piece will be useful to serve as a master place to start and proceed forward along:  The Only Sure Path To The Greatest Life: Using "The Process".  (Hmmm... "the process"...I wonder if that means virtually the same as "procedure" to be used as a way of proceeding...)

Go forward to learn the principle better, by clicking on this piece:  Super-Principle: Good Programs And Good Procedures, For Life To Work Exceedingly Well! and Procedures And Checklists For Maximum Productivity, Greater Ease, Greater Effectiveness - And greater happiness!

Based on this essential structuring of ways to proceed,  we will do "The Build" in life that will be a sure winner.   Follow The Only Sure Path...

The best presentation of this that I've seen is in what looks like a business book but one that can be applied to life.  (He is coming out with a new one on applying the same principles and systems in life, so get on his mailing list.)  Sam Carpenter went from 80 hours a week of agony and little profits, operating from chaos and catch-up, to one at a time refining each of his systems/procedures, until he reached high profits and only two hours a week on the job.  He is practical and detailed so that there is no "fantasy in the sky" but actual results.  The current book is free (in pdf) on the site:  Work The System.
