Do life the hard way or the easy, abundance way?

Choose

Read the short piece: Do life the hard way or the easy, abundance way?

“The quality of your systems determine the quality of your life.” (Paraphrased)

Excellent way to learn more about life, much quicker..

James Clear is an excellent writer and blogger, worth following.

And reading book summaries, if you’re doing them for the intent of learning and getting results, is an excellent way to both broaden your knowledge AND to choose whether to go deeper.  If you read a book or a summary of a book and then you don’t go out and implement it, you have barely succeeded compared to the potential of what you could do with your life.

See: Book summaries - three sentences, then notes on these excellent books.

Complete your lifeplan by assuring full implementation and results!

Written to the Mindvalley Community:

One of the things I’ve noticed is the tendency to want to “get thru” a course or quest, as if that was a true finishing of the course.   Particularly, I’ve noticed several people who have rushed through the Lifebook quest in order to get the refund/reward back for completion.

But I would propose that one of THE most important, impactful things you can do is to at least go back and complete the initial Lifebook plan AND then do the Lifebook Mastery implementation quest as that is the point of the whole thing - to drive through until one gets the desired results and really lives into their life vision!

It is about results, not just “activity” or dreaming.

Along those lines, it makes sense to do their monthly “deep dive” into each area of life, so that one more fully understands and thinks about how to get the results in each area at a better, higher level.

I ask you “what could be more valuable than following through on those?”

(I’ve devised in my own writings several approaches to planning and productivity, as before this I could find no good resource out there.  Jon and Missy’s Lifebook process is one I have full confidence in (having done it years before they hooked up to MV).  I believe it is an essential course(s) to take for everyone!). [I am not compensated at all for this.]

Albert Einstein On Sifting The Essential From The NonEssentila

A very, very key skill is sifting out for what is important, essential, and most relevant (affecting us the most).  When you do that, and then apply ordinary effort, you develop a greater power for getting greater results.

Albert Einstein On Sifting The Essential From The NonEssential

I talk about this as a key principle in my book Life Value Productivity (link to it from Books, Booklets) .  When you eliminate the largely irrelevant things from your life you make room for more of what is highly relevant to you...and you life uplevels enormously.

Will you accept the challenge to live only in what is most highly relevant (valuable) to you?

What We CAN do...the power of this man...

Although I’ve seen Vishen Lakhiani in action on stage and marveled at what he has done with Mindvalley, I was privileged to see him truly in action the other night.

We were sitting down at the social night outside at the venue in Pula, Croatia, when Vishen joined as.  Then Gina Murray rejoined us, followed by a visit from Kaitlin and Cassidy, the two women (18 and 20) who had decided to do work in the refugee camps instead of going to college.

When Vishen fully realized who they were, and that they were doing a presentation to Mindvalley University on July 4th, he immediately “sparked” into action, quickly interviewing them, recording it on his iphone.  After which he instructed his assistant (who wasn’t present) as to what to do with the video.

Then he was inspired to suggest that the presentation should be shifted around a bit so that the initial part of the presentation would be cut down to 18 minutes (of the 45 minute presentation they had prepared for), as that is the maximum that could allow it to go viral, to have much, much more impact.

In a fairly low voice volume, he called over an individual about 30 feet away (in this noisy party atmosphere), who then came over to help on some matters connected with the presentation.  Then another person was summoned over, for I forget what, after which he called out to another person at the party who had taken the Eric Edmeades Speaker Academy and then recorded a piece that went viral with over 5 million views - Vishen asked him to assist the Kaitlin and Cassidy in cutting the talk down to 18 minutes, to go viral.

As I recall, Vishen asked something like “OK?”, and he replied, of course, I’d do anything for you, Vishen…. hmmm.   Pretty remarkable!

Then he tied it into an existing charity to work with and then...he tied it to a person who didn’t want a royalty for what he was contributing, but which might be accepted if it were turned over to “this cause”.

A few other things were instigated by Vishen, who then summarized the six major things to be done.  He had instigated all of this and wrapped it all up, with people committed to follow up, all in 20 minutes.

Most people would have spent six months to make this happen, but he took only 20 minutes.  And then I saw the full power of this man (and the power we are all capable of if we choose to step up like he has in this world).

What I wrote originally on this:  Vishen Lakhiani - A Model And A Teacher.

Meditate from 1 minute, 3, or 5... use this free app and get reminded!!!

You don’t have to sit in a cave for hours on end “meditating”.  But do follow the principle of taking a “centering, grounding” break of even just 30 seconds.

I’d recommend that you set up the reminders in this great free app (which provides the meditation for you), so that you don’t fall into the abyss of “mindlessness” and can return to “mindfulness” - and feeling and functioning much better:

The power of a 100% decision/rule

(In email, click on the post title in order to read the entire post.)

If we decide “tentatively” (depending on how we feel at the time), our decisions in the moment will not serve us well.  We will always be weak about whatever we thought was best when we were in our higher brain.

However, if we make a decision to adhere a 100% of the time to something that is best for us, even our primitive mind can understand that (and is much, much, much more likely not to give in to the moment’s temptations.

I’d recommend that you consider what Brian Johnson is saying in this piece:  Extreme?

Also, I’d recommend the book he is citing, but not just for the subject it talks about...but for the way of thinking that will serve you tremendously in your life.

There is tremendous power in the 100% decision, not only in the moment, but in the priceless degree of confidence that you’ll gain in being able to rely on yourself.  (That overlaps into two of the four necessary components of happiness.)

The relief from having to struggle “with oneself”, internally, is also a super big benefit.  Redeciding in the moment between what the primitive mind believes it wants and what you’ve decided rationally is best...is a huge waste of energy, plus a likely harmful practice to continue!

How high is your responsibility, victimhood, and power in life?

(In email, click on the post title in order to read the entire post.)

A most vital area to be clear about, as it will, for sure, determine the quality of your life.  Many people, regardless of their "act", are still to some degree slipping into the victim persona, at very, very high costs.  Learn this, be clear about it, master this area, and make the choices necessary to live a powerful life.
Your results in your life correlate with your level of responsibility you take in your life.

Read these and then rate yourself on the spectrum as to where you are now and where you will now choose to be:

Have you "hired' an idiot brain to run your life?

(In email, click on the post title in order to read the entire post.)

How long should you tolerate "reactivity" from your emotions?  Should you "believe" your primitive brain's "urgings"?

I suggest that that you no longer tolerate these for even one second.

If you follow what is in this linked piece, I guarantee your life will change dramatically.

And you'll find that the initial surge is so very simple and easy to do!

Have you "hired" an idiot brain to run your life?  (And should you train your other brain...)

We are blaming, evilizing, selectively choosing “facts” - not thinking, not solving

(In email, click on the post title in order to read the entire post.)

The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie -- deliberate, contrived and dishonest, but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic. Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.
                                           John F. Kennedy

One cannot be contributing something positive at the same time in which he/she is spewing negative. One cannot continually speak of the problem and still have space to think of the solutions and to make them happen.  (Once the problem is defined sufficiently, the solution process is the only thing that should be engaged in!!!)

We are stuck in a loop of blame, taking sides as “tribes”, and making others the enemies. People dare not disagree as they will be met with wrath or anger or disapproval, for "we" are right and "they" are wrong...

However, the true enemy of man is irrationality and the lack of verified facts, for only in truth can we do our best seeking of what is good, progressive and beneficial.

The other enemy is also based on non-thinking.  We think “blame” is legitimate.  We seek to punish the ill informed rather than to train or rehabilitate them.  Somehow we think that people should do better than they actually know how, which of course is impossible - but we think they “should” know (read Authentic Knowing).  We even seek to suppress speech and oppress others who have different viewpoints...a sad state of affairs in this country.

We attempt to place guilt on people in a nation, as if they are responsible for the sins of their forefathers.  We attempt to exaggerate what is going on as "really bad" in a number of areas, whereas we have made significant progress and lowered "the bad" to a minimum (yes, we should seek more progress in each area, but not encourage evilizing others such that evildoers on the same side of the encouragers harm them).

A frequent sticker on VW vans in the hippie days read:  "If you’re not part of the solution, you are part of the problem."

Indeed!

Those of us who primarily engage in protesting, complaining, evilizing, biasing "information", taking on false information as if it were true are, in fact, cocreators in creating “sides” and obstinence and fighting and blocking.... (Read The Reasoning For "No Blame" and be sure to "get it" about the "just not knowing yet" concept.  The negative people are playing a Zero Sum Game Vs Win-Win  and need to learn that win-win is the best approach, as discussed in the linked article.)

Unless the individual is taught such that he/she relieves his/her ignorance of how to do critical, valid thinking (it's not "their fault", just something they need to learn), we will not be able to turn this country around (nor will an individual be able to turn around his/her bad habits, problems, stress and bad thinking).

It is good outcomes we are after, not “being right” (though that was needed in earlier evolutionary times [caveman type days]).

Those who seek only good outcomes, by working with others, listening, compromising as needed to get some gains that otherwise would not be gained, who listen, and play win-win are the ones who will create progress.  (See Right/Wrong Vs. Workability - the only criteria is "does it work to produce a good (or better or best we can get) outcome?")

Each of us needs to decide if that is what we will do, but until enough of us do that (as with No Labels) the country (the USA) will stay the same.  Yes, we can blame the politicians but our opinions, our communications, and our votes are what can overrule the internal destructive political games.

I cannot associate with either party, though each has some good ideas and actually some agreement.  I cannot support "the bad" even if mixed in with the good or if the lesser of the bad.  Only if we turn to being true, objective, critical thinking "independents" who elect independents will we be able to break the blocs in each party that force the representatives to do the party’s bidding.

We are in the opposite condition now, with massive blaming, guilt accusations, shaming, stubbornness, make-wrong, evilizing, punishing instead of teaching.

It is now up to you to change your individual way of being, as there is very little you can do to effectively change others.

Will you pledge to play "win win" and to engage in good rational, fact-based thinking and problem solving?   (In politics, work, relationships AND in your life...)

Becoming the person you want to be...

(In email, click on the post title in order to read the entire post.)

How can anyone become the person he/she wants to be without fully formulating who that person is, in specifics?????  Use this series to actually “see” and then choose who you want to be:  Becoming The Person You Want To Be - a series of readings that will give you models and plenty to copy or think about.  Then follow the steps to create your being that person...

[If you can’t just hand me a written list of who you want to be or are committed to being, you have not finished your homework that is necessary in order to be able to create that!!!  Then, if you can’t hand me a written plan on how you are going to make at least some of them come into reality, you will find that you will not actually create what you want.  This is a bit of a “Duh! Really?” observation - what do you think?]

If you understand the mechanics of an "emotion", you can then "work" them to your highest happiness...

(In email, click on the post title in order to read the entire post.)

If you understand that an emotion is a reaction of the mind to a situation, intended to have you go into motion to better your survival in some way...  If you understand that it is just a mechanical reaction, with electrobiochemical signals going through our body and its brain part...  If you understand that it does not “mean” anything else, other than being a mechanical, objective (yes, it is objective) way for the body to get into action to create a favorable outcome... (See Emotions main page.)

If you understand those, then you will be on the way to effectively “managing your emotions” and not “feel bad about them” (feeling bad is an emotion, in a sense).

WHY DO WE "FEEL BAD"?

Why do we “feel bad” about something?

So we can fix whatever seems to be the problem.

Simple motivation (based on our evolved survival instincts).

The mind very simplistically coughs up anything that might be associated in some way to a particular situation, and then it “sorts” through them on a mechanical basis (usually the “emotional charge” on something) to select what is to be done and then it emotes the signal to the body/mind to do an action (a "motion", out there, where "e" means out) that will help resolve or make the situation better (for higher survival, including safety all the way to feeling better).

That’s it.

It's all mechanical.

No little gremlins or “saboteurs” inside us.  No “inner child” or other metaphorical “entities.”  Just mechanics. (Most of the mechanics involve false beliefs or outdated instincts that no longer work, in today's world.)

And, once you understand how the mechanics work you can then learn “how to work them” to your advantage.  You simply identify a step that didn’t work (i.e., it caused an undesired result: “negative” feeling that we don’t wish to keep repeating) and learn/identify a “step” that works and replace the step .

THERE IS A MECHANICAL PROCESS

The process of getting from “something happened” to the end result is always a “sequence of steps that works to cause and/or leads to the next step.

It looks like the following diagram, though there are several steps within each of these bigger categories.

Something happens —> Interpret —> Evaluate —> Decide —> Emotion --> Act

Note that it always works this way!  (Even if we are not conscious of each step.)

Notice that we can change a number of things about how we interpret something - and correct our false beliefs that support the interpretation that leads to a less good next step.  The beliefs underlying how we evaluate something (as a big threat, little one, not a threat at all) can also be corrected. Each correction of a step in the process improves the results we get from the process - that is our purpose for doing "the work" necessary to better our lives!

The Buddha advised us to examine life’s experiences and our reaction to them. The process of being aware of and thinking about such is called "Mindfulness", wherein one first pays attention in order to notice and see what is going on AND then examines what is going on in order to create better results in life.  Mindfulness is simply thinking about what is going on, what happened, what are the sensations being felt...and, then, most likely, looking at what the beliefs were that created them (though that part is often done later, which is why a mindful person might write at the time about what was going on, especially the beliefs and thoughts that caused the emotions, as best he/she could).  Simple.

When we “manage” the thinking (belief) process, we then are able to better get what we want out of life.

Simple truth...

WHAT TO DO

If you are willing to do the work to create great happiness, then what might you do next?

Obviously, at least understand overall "emotions" and the beliefs that cause them.

You would, of course, start with reading the Emotions main page.

You might then start on changing the key beliefs that underlie most of your negative reactions. See  Core Beliefs Underlying Negative Harmful Thinking.

And then you'd expand out from there to other beliefs that support such thinking and you'd learn the super-principle of Zero Fault - a MUST if one is to be highly happy!

Ultimately you would get to the point of doing Effective Thinking, applied to your beliefs and ways of doing things in the world.  (Note that critical thinking sounds like it takes the joy out of things, but it is actually the path to being able to create more joy in life, removing the obstacles to such!)  The process you would use is called, amazingly, The Beliefs Changing Process.

At some point, it would be advisable to find the key beliefs that bug you by linking to the specific belief (many specific ones are already addressed, with solutions, in the right column in the Beliefs And Thoughts Contents, Links page) and correcting them to what will work to get our desired results and emotions!  And/or you can approach it through the list of specific emotions and issues in the right column of Emotions, Contents, Links page.)

The end result of this process is that you will end up Fearless and "Life Powerful", resulting in your being able to create whatever you desire in life without all those false barriers AND resulting in your creating high happiness in life.  As we go toward the end purpose of life (highest happiness), we must arrive at the point of actually being a Self Actualized Person (getting to it by starting from the point of correcting beliefs!).

So, now, the "work" begins, the path is embarked upon, and "soon" we will find ourselves operating and feeling much better, as we progress up the path more and more and more and more....!!!!!!!!

(If you do this diligently, you will find that your life will be dramatically elevated in just a few months - and that the elevation will continue and continue and continue...as you will stick to the process once you've seen the benefits of applying the process!)

For those who are sweet, nice, and hope for the world to love more...you must do this or you'll be frustrated

(Click on the title of the post to read the entire post.)

At the MindValley "reunion" weekend, I met a super sweet soul giving off strong, warm, loving energy that actually touched me.  I instantly wanted her dreams to promote love in the world (and other noble objectives) to be fulfilled.

And, I thought, she, like the "flower children" of my generation, will be sadly disappointed and have many struggles in life IF she does not "balance" her way of being.

Like Captain Kirk of The Enterprise in Star Trek, when he was split by the transmitter into his totally "good" self and his totally evil self, the unbalanced, too weak, non-decisive "good" self was totally ineffective (except that using his higher brain saved the day!).

A person who lives in the "ideal world" in his/her head is living in the "metaphysical (mind) world", where things happen instantly, with no barriers, and in no time, with no resistance or conflicts.  But if the person isn't able also to convert what is in the mind into actual results in the physical world, he/she will leave a relatively powerless life, unable to create the results that he/she wants to see!  AND he/she will not live in the happiness that he/she is capable of living in. (Almost always, this person is likely to live in too much anxiety...and thus suffer unnecessarily in life.)

I love Maria Nemeth's way of putting it:  We freely and instantly move around in the metaphysical world but when we reach the border to go into the physical world, we encounter mass, effort, and time - and often we "metafizzle"!  (See, on the site, Metaphysical Reality.)

I hope and pray that that super loving soul will learn, very quickly, how to better navigate the real world.

You MUST do a sufficient number of "resets", to live a good life

(Click on the title of this post to read the entire post.)

We let ourselves go into mental and/or physical dysfunction too frequently during the day AND we do not correct it quickly enough.

It makes no sense to get into dysfunctioning, and to stay in it, as the costs are too great, including the time and portion of your life that are wasted while being in it.  It is vital to be in a state where we can have a high quality experience of life!

A person with a lot of anxiety or a person who lets him/herself be at a low energy level is a person who is in dysfunction much more of the time than others are, so the person must do the management strategies much more often if he/she is to live a well-managed life.  (Shallow, rapid breathing is NOT to go uncorrected!)

Such a person must do many, many resets during the day - and all will be beneficial, at least in reducing the cost of being in dysfunction.

The person MUST be sure to do at least instant resets (stop, breathe deeply, close eyes, reposture) and do resets that are sufficient for "recovery" (restoration) of functionality.

The instant resets should be a constantly available and used tool in any person's life if the person is to have a good life.  If a person is to be a well functioning human, the person MUST become very competent at this - and I suggest that it is well worth it to become a true master of it!

The non-instant resets (naps, very simple mind calming, correcting and restating to the positive,  energizing routines, and such) should be done, taking the time unless there is a true emergency that prevents it.

Trying to function while in dysfunctionality is one of the most "unsmart" things a person can do.

The rule would best be: Reset each and every time you notice any dysfunctionality! That way you will be functioning much more of the time in life!  And you will avoid the ill effects of spiraling within dysfunctionality!

Remember that a vital principle underlying all of life is that of Homeostasis, which principle we want to use to stay in "The Power Zone".

Of course, a "reset" is curative of the symptoms only.  The person who is in charge of his/her own life will find a way to "cure the cause, not just the symptoms" - clearly that is the superior approach!

he person must find and/or design strategies that will work to avoid going into a dysfunctional state - such as naps, different eating strategies, energizing ahead of the drop, and such.

All of these are addressed on The Site.  Start with reading the main page on Homeostasis, Staying In The Power Zone and then follow the links!
