Do this to unravel the mind’s chaos and master your emotions...!!!!!

(In email, click on the post title in order to read the entire post.)

A core goal of this site is to unravel the confusion and chaos of the mind, moving from vagueness and lack of control to clarity and insight and eventually to mastery.

To do the unraveling, we might well use “philosophical meditation” (or simply “introspection” into what and how we think).  In that process, we set aside the time to identify and figure out what is actually going on.  What is going on in our brain, our emotions, and our thinking. And how might we better it.

A very good, though lengthy, discussion of this goes on in this piece from The School Of Life:

Philosophical Meditation: An Emotional Skill

This will give you greater insight on the process and how, if we persist (and don’t make the common mistake of “stopping short”!), we will attain an understanding and a mastery that will transform our lives forever...IF we do “the work”!

This discussion also contains some valuable exercises that I recommend you include in your tool kit for managing your life. Do those, or at least try them for the next 7 days (or 7 sessions), and see how it works.

(If you don’t have time now to do this, put it on your to do list or schedule!)

And please, do let me know the results, insights, and the effects on your thinking and beliefs and emotions... Contact

WHAT IS A PROACTIVE, ”RESULTS LEARNER”? THIS WILL MAKE A SUPER DIFFERENCE IN YOUR LIFE!

WHAT IS A PROACTIVE, ”RESULTS LEARNER”?

This is an excerpt from Smart, Directed, Effective, Proactive  Learning - Using "Results Learning" To Create The Life You Love, which is essentially a 50 page “course” to master learning for the greatest boost in your life!

When you are ready to tackle that, do so.  Meanwhile, as a proactive learner (if you decide to be one), you should scan that piece, potentially getting a few things you can easily include in your life right now, in order to “up” your learning a few levels.

___________________________________________________________

The Proactive Learner is one who makes sure he does what it takes to completely learn what is needed AND to implement it for RESULTS!  He will initiate and drive the process forward, regardless of whether or not his resources/coaches provide all of what is needed.  (He is proactive, not at all passive, and is self-determined.)

If the information he is learning does not provide a clear path or there is something missing, he proactively finds what is needed and/or he sets up his own learning plan/success-path to follow to assure that he gets where he wants to go!!!!

He/she determines where all the needs for learning are, prioritizes them, and sets up the plan that will work to close the gaps. (He does not depend on, nor blame, anyone else to provide the answers and/or motivation for him.)

As a result, he is massively more productive than the usual “passive, maybe I’ll learn something” reader (or seminar attendee), where things go into the head and right through it with little retained and almost always no results.  He does not read non-fiction books or articles for “entertainment”, but reads them for value derived from them!

You can “jump” to a level closer to how a results learner performs, simply by using this form to guide you:  The Learning Plan Form.  You will gradually learn better and better how to do this - and it will massively improve your life

Implementation Checklist And Summary Of The Code Of The Extraordinary Mind

A great book.

I wrote this as a challenge to the attendees of The Mindvalley University, who have likely read it.

But even a stranger to it should be able to "get" some understanding around it and to benefit from the many links in these vital parts of life.

Commit to mastery, retrain your mind for happiness

I find this guy to be a man of substance and an example of how to create a great life:

Commit To Mastery (Video, 4:53) - Great affirmation statements!  (We should all do such a manifesto for our life.)

Worthwhile to follow him: Project Life Mastery Even though he focuses on entrepreneurial endeavors, his life advice is still great, for those who are interested in personal growth.

Create your manifesto

This free ebook is worth studying, me thinks:  The World Changer's Manifesto, by Robin Sharma.

Though rather grandiose in his languaging, the materials are very worth while implementing.

As a proactive learner and member of this blog, you know that "learning" is not complete until actual results are obtained from it.  So I urge you to go ALL THE WAY to the results (as all people who are successful do...duh).

Do the internal work first!!!!

“Happiness and freedom begin with a clear understanding of one

principle: Some things are within our control, and some things

are not. It is only after you have faced up to this fundamental

rule and learned to distinguish between what you can and can’t

control that inner tranquility and our effectiveness become

possible.” Epictetus, The Art Of Living

Spend your life on things that you can control and those things

that have the most impact on your life. Do not try to control

others nor spend time on what is not under your control.

The most important thing to gain control over is to master your

internal world, as it is the way to happiness AND to success and

mastery in the external world. Yes, it is less tangible than the

external, but its value is priceless in comparison.

Why you don't progress as fast in life as you could: Poor learning practices

A piece provided on a Facebook page for a "learning event" about to happen:

YOU ARE ABOUT TO WASTE 90+% OF THE POTENTIAL LEARNING VALUE FROM THIS LEARNING CONFERENCE

You are about to embark on a 2-3 day journey of potential learning, with much of it wasted!

Because you don’t “complete” your learning process, you are likely to leave this potential learning experience and immediately go back to life, without fully applying this to change your life.  Thus your life will not change much and you’ll have to come back and learn this same stuff over and over - unless you follow the Results Learning Method below.

First, however, consider this:

What we are doing here is, besides having a pleasing experience is to:

Remove the negative views of yourself and your past life (the No Fault Truism)
Remove all fear and doubts of the future and live your life in your full power. (Fearlessness)

If you do not learn effectively, you will never arrive there.

To learn effectively, you must follow these principles of learning and adopt the best method of learning, period.

1. Take good enough notes to use later.  (Leave a page for the table of contents and then number all subsequent pages as you would a book, starting each new chapter on a new page.)

2. Set aside time, now, for  after the seminar to follow up on all notes, ideas, intentions.

3. Study it UNTIL it is sufficiently completed (you are able to and/or produce the desired results from it).

Heed the above...then...

Read the attached piece completely,  until you are capable of doing it all and reap the results:
“Smart, Directed, Effective, Proactive Learning Book - Using “Results Learning” To Create The Life You Want!”

My best wishes for attaining great life power from sticking to this!

Excellent way to learn more about life, much quicker..

James Clear is an excellent writer and blogger, worth following.

And reading book summaries, if you’re doing them for the intent of learning and getting results, is an excellent way to both broaden your knowledge AND to choose whether to go deeper.  If you read a book or a summary of a book and then you don’t go out and implement it, you have barely succeeded compared to the potential of what you could do with your life.

THE SECRET TO LIFE MASTERY

THE SECRET TO LIFE MASTERY:
HYPOTHESIS, TEST, PIVOT, REPEAT

The secret to mastery of life was in one of our presentations today:

You’ll see this also in Vishen Lakhiani’s subthemes.

The “secret” in this presentation (you can guess which it was):

Continued (to document with links)...

If we don't question this, we cannot possibly master life...

At Mindvalley, we say we should question the culturescape and the brules, so...with that, consider this hypothetical discussion:

“How dare you question magical thinking!”

“But isn’t this a university, a platform for inquiry and better solutions?”

“But, you A-hole, you’re questioning my cherished beliefs that are part of my identity/safety!”

“No, I’m questioning the basis for how they are brought about.  Choose whatever you choose, but I want you to choose well, for your greater benefit!”

“I’m suggesting that we ought to at least look at this and see how much it could change our lives and our personal power if we did really look at this with our greatest tool.

I’m suggesting that the path to mastery must include this or you can never live the potential life that you are capable of.

Consider this (excerpted from the linked piece I suggest you read):

WE MAKE UP STUFF, SKIP THINKING STEPS, AND THEN...

1.  The "believing human brain" makes stuff up (there's an evolutionary reason why it does so)
2.  And then we believe it as truth (also for an evolutionary reason).
3.  And then it "skips steps", to take shortcuts (also for an evolutionary reason).

Yes, in certain things, this way of processing (in a "non-thinking" way)  works to our benefit, BUT...

"FAIRY TALES" DO NOT ALWAYS SERVE US WELL...

...BUT often it works to our detriment - where it really matters!

For important stuff in life that doesn't fit caveman days, we must however not believe what is made up nor skip the steps to arrive at what to believe in and how to utilize it in our lives.

We cannot make good decisions nor manage our lives well based on bad facts and "non-thinking" (defaulting to primitive brain automaticity).

Don't fall into these traps!  Recognize them. Then correct the key beliefs (facts) that matter to what is true, using the higher brain in the process.  Then use reasoning to decide what to do and how to use the corrected means to getting what you want in life.

Read the rest of this article...and consider how life changing this will be:

What We CAN do...the power of this man...

Although I’ve seen Vishen Lakhiani in action on stage and marveled at what he has done with Mindvalley, I was privileged to see him truly in action the other night.

We were sitting down at the social night outside at the venue in Pula, Croatia, when Vishen joined as.  Then Gina Murray rejoined us, followed by a visit from Kaitlin and Cassidy, the two women (18 and 20) who had decided to do work in the refugee camps instead of going to college.

When Vishen fully realized who they were, and that they were doing a presentation to Mindvalley University on July 4th, he immediately “sparked” into action, quickly interviewing them, recording it on his iphone.  After which he instructed his assistant (who wasn’t present) as to what to do with the video.

Then he was inspired to suggest that the presentation should be shifted around a bit so that the initial part of the presentation would be cut down to 18 minutes (of the 45 minute presentation they had prepared for), as that is the maximum that could allow it to go viral, to have much, much more impact.

In a fairly low voice volume, he called over an individual about 30 feet away (in this noisy party atmosphere), who then came over to help on some matters connected with the presentation.  Then another person was summoned over, for I forget what, after which he called out to another person at the party who had taken the Eric Edmeades Speaker Academy and then recorded a piece that went viral with over 5 million views - Vishen asked him to assist the Kaitlin and Cassidy in cutting the talk down to 18 minutes, to go viral.

As I recall, Vishen asked something like “OK?”, and he replied, of course, I’d do anything for you, Vishen…. hmmm.   Pretty remarkable!

Then he tied it into an existing charity to work with and then...he tied it to a person who didn’t want a royalty for what he was contributing, but which might be accepted if it were turned over to “this cause”.

A few other things were instigated by Vishen, who then summarized the six major things to be done.  He had instigated all of this and wrapped it all up, with people committed to follow up, all in 20 minutes.

Most people would have spent six months to make this happen, but he took only 20 minutes.  And then I saw the full power of this man (and the power we are all capable of if we choose to step up like he has in this world).

What I wrote originally on this:  Vishen Lakhiani - A Model And A Teacher.

The young world changers

(Written on the Mindvalley University facebook page).

Having been “officially” “adopted” as “adopted grandparents” to Kaitlin and Cassidy Murray, we (Robin and I) get to boast of our adopted grandchildren.

We were privileged to have Vishen join our table the other night, when shortly thereafter he suddenly sprang into action to create a whole new way of Kaitlin and Cassidy presenting on July 4th, where we are now looking to for it to go viral, to have a greater impact.

Kaitlin and Cassidy have been “working” in the refugee camps instead of going to college.  Vishen interviewed them, recording it all on his iphone and they handled his questions with great maturity, centeredness, and clarity (at ages 20 and18!).  Be sure to see this all in action on July 4th!

One of the great things about this is that they are not only helping the world but are themselves becoming masters of life - more and more able to not only be fulfilled themselves but to be able to have the power and mastery that will more greatly affect the world and all of those around them.

What could be better?!!!

Indeed, we all can learn to be masters of life if we choose to do that which it takes to become such.

(Oh, and plaudits to Gina & Todd Murray for having “produced” these world changing women!)

Will you choose to be a master of life...or not?

(In email, click on the post title in order to read the entire post.)

For those who truly seek life mastery and self mastery, the journey is a great one but at times not a smooth one, as we break through areas that are challenging anew or wander into a forest where we get lost, but continue to forge onward.

I just went through a month long experience at Mindvalley University, where I saw the ups and downs and the challenges of those who sought to learn and grow to new heights.  They are, in a sense, on a Hero’s Journey, much to be admired, but with challenges.  And some will not do what it takes to follow the path.

I hope you’ll read this so that you understand better what is involved AND then make the right choice!

Good thinking leads to good conclusions, which lead to... read this great interview.

(In an email, click on the title of the post to read the entire post.)

Good thinking (which includes "good learning") leads to good conclusions about life.  Good conclusions about life lead to a good life.  Great conclusions about life lead to a great life.

People who believe in what "can't be proven false yet can't be proven true" are floating around in DangerLand if they use those beliefs as fundamental truths.  They aren't.  They are in reality hypotheses about the unknowable.  You can believe in them if it is beneficial, but first it is necessary to tie down the true truths (the provably true ones).  (Every human being should read the book of this title, but for now each of them might view my summary page:  The Believing Brain.)

It's your choice, but...

READ THIS...

The Farnam Street blog (which many of you should subscribe to, methinks) just forwarded a two hour interview of such wisdom that I feel compelled to forward access to you.  Generously, they have also allowed access to the transcript of the full interview (!!!!).

This is not just to be read (only to disappear in the ether of LaterLand or NothingLand), but it should be studied and used to derive some things that will actually change your life for the better when you install them into your life.

I won't suggest that you don't read it if you don't study it, but I will suggest that it would be a real pity if you did not fully harvest it for your life, including, probably, some questioning of things you hold to be true (but may not be provably true).

Go to OReading, Happiness, Systems for Decision Making, Habits, Honesty and More and scroll down the page and click "complete transcript" (and I suggest you save it in your Word account or a free Google docs account, which will allow you to highlight, add comments, etc. - use your internet search engine, entering "how to convert a pdf into a google doc").
__________________

I would suggest that that transcript is worth going viral... And that it would be a gift to others is you share this blog post in social media or use the little white envelope below for an email.

I will likely do a special "white paper" around this which will tie my site's relevant pages to what the interviewee (Naval Ravikant) says (so that you can read deeper on a topic or assertion).  To be notified of this, a person would need to sign up for the email notification service (up and to the right).

Remember, please, that my site is on a not-for-profit basis, with no other motives than to simply "pay it forward".

Where should I start? I want to get to "there", but I understand there are steps...

(In email, click on the title of the post to read the entire post.)

HUMAN BEINGS

Human beings put on one pant leg at a time...an old saying to view great idols as mere limited human beings.

However, though we have to do the little steps required of human beings (or any being), we are uniquely able to learn, think, and create at the higher levels.  And, no, there are no miraculous, instant elevating of humans to super levels.

But we are (all of us with normal brains) able to be virtually limitless.  We are not actually limitless, of course, but what is true is that we are still far from our actual limits, of our highest human (not magical) potential.

NOWHERE TO GO...

If we do not set a clear intention of where we want to go, we are not likely to get "there".  (Duh!)

If we take a path to a clear destination, we must first find or create a path to follow ... or we'll not likely get there (or at least we'll take a heck of alot more effort and suffer from far more mistakes than if we had a designed, thought out path).  (Duh!)

If those are so obvious, why do we not do this with everything that is important?

NOT A QUESTION OF CAPABILITY, BUT ONLY OF CHOICE

Surely we have the thinking, devising (or finding/copying) ability to establish a great path.  But if we leave it all up to our monkey minds, we are very likely to just "monkey around" with our lives and get nowhere.  (Duh!)

The only way to ever realistically hope to achieve our greatest life is to set aside time where we use our higher brain to assure that we have the path clearly established (and then keep trying to follow the path and return to it when we get off the path - that process is called discipline, wherein there is much "returning to the path" - the followers of "the way" or "the path" of a discipline (pathway) are, after all, called "disciples").

While you can struggle with discipline, you probably will arrive at your destination (or close to it).  But if you don't have a path that you follow, your life is screwed (so to speak) - you will, so to speak, have f'ed it up, blew it, wasted your life in meaningless meandering.

No magic solutions (or miracles) will be able to rescue you.  If you're missing the steps to take, you will not take the necessary steps and you will not arrive at your destination (even God would agree with that, since he set up all the realities of the universe, so to speak).  (Duh!)  (Read And Then A Miracle Happens...Wanna Bet?)

WILL YOU MAKE "THE CHOICE"?

The point of this (rather obvious) rant is not to just have you see the rationale, but to actually have you do the actions that will assure that you establish the paths (or path) you need to get you to where you want to go (though the step before that is to establish what that destination is).

Right now, before you shut this down and let it get lost in the ether,

1.  Pick a destination (or list all or most of your major destinations, defined in clear terms). (Perhaps this will give you a boost or reminders that will help stimulate your thought: Life Mastery - From Self Assessment To Commitment And The Choice Of A Path.)

2.  Pick or devise a path for each (or tickle it up so that it is assured that you will stay on the task of finishing the selection of paths, before anything else in your life that isn't mandatory for the now).
Start with The Paths - The Steps To Take To Where You Want To Go In Life - at least start off with picking one of the shorter paths or programs.  There are a few "programs" that will literally elevate your life for the rest of your life.

3. Set up the time schedule such that you can do what is necessary to assure that you progress well on the path of life!   (See Allocating Your Time...)

If you heed this advice, your life will be actually and realistically, one step at a time, "transformed" to a whole new high level of existing and fully living life.

If you do choose this, please let me know (and, as well, update me):  Contact.
